Polish of the Week: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White-On

Apologies for the slight hiatus everyone. I've been interstate for a conference this past week, but I'm back in Melbourne town now and will resume to be 3 posts a week schedule this week! I'm coming at you with another Polish of the Week post. 

I have succumbed to the white nail polish trend. On my nails is Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear Nail Colour in White On. I'll be frank and say it's not the best nail polish in terms of application. You need 3 coats to get a nice opaque white. The photo above is 2 coats and you can see it's still slightly streaky and could do with another. It's so different to Pacific Blue in the same line which is opaque in 2 and not streaky at all. Nevertheless, for the price ($6.95) I can deal.

Polish of the Week: Inglot Nail Polish in 163

Another Inglot nail polish this week but this time in a light pink shade with a slight metallic sheen. This nail polish is the Inglot Nail Polish in 163 and the colour reminds me of fairy floss. Although the picture doesn't show it, the pink is quite subtle from afar. I like it because you can get away with it looking "neutral" at work. This was opaque in 2 coats but I applied 3 for good measure. I found that the pink really came through on the third coat. It was streaky after 1 coat, but I expect that with lighter shades. Really loving my Inglot nail polishes at the moment. They have been a little unloved, so it was high time I whipped them out again!

Polish of the Week: Essie in Sand Tropez

I must be in some sort of minimalistic mood lately. I have been gravitating towards minimal makeup (see my minimal makeup basket post here) and now I have been leaning towards a neutral nail when I usually love colour. The great thing about a neutral nail is that it matches with absolutely anything and is perfect for the workforce. Admittedly, I wear some questionable colours for where I work (aqua blue nails in a private practice? possibly not the most appropriate!) but they're just so pretty and it's silly to let them sit in my (unattractive) plastic container nail polish storage. 

The nail polish in question this week is Essie Sand Tropez, which can be described as a light grey-beige. As with most neutral coloured nail polish, it takes a few coats to get an opaque colour. The first coat is quite transparent and streaky, the second coat is less streaky and more opaque, but in order to get an opaque application three coats are needed, which is how many I applied in the images above. I personally love having a neutral nail and love how this one doesn't have a pink undertone. When I think neutral nail, I think of a true beige or a nail polish with a pink undertone. The fact that this is a very light grey is what I think sets it apart from your 'typical neutral'.

Polish of the Week: Rimmel London Salon Pro in Classical Red

I was so excited to see the newest Rimmel London nailpolish range by Kate Moss on the shelves of Big W the other day. I picked up 706 Classical Red from the Salon Pro with Lycra range. Can't go wrong with a good old red right? I'm absolutely loving it so far in terms of application, colour, lasting power AND I got it on sale for $5.44! The photo above is just one coat as well. Amazing! Check out your local Big W right now if you're interested because I saw that they were still on sale yesterday.

Polish of the Week: Rimmel London Lyrca Pro in 404 Icon Style

The nail polish of this week is Rimmel London Lycra Pro in 404 Icon Style. It's a beautiful dark raspberry red colour. The wear time of this nail polish is definitely phenomenal. It lasts 5 days with minimal chipping with my 'Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat'. It beats the wear time of my OPI and Butter London nail polishes and its half to a third of the price of those. Will definitely be trying more for this range.

Polish of the Week: Revlon's Teak Rose

Apologies for missing last week's 'Polish of the Week'. Work has been super hectic and I have been working 6 day weeks which has been extremely tiring! This week's Polish of the Week is Revlon's 161 in Teak Rose. I'd have to say that this is one of my all time favourite polishes. It's a muted rose colour with hints brown. I love this colour in the autumn/winter time and when I'm after something neutral-ish but provides some pop of colour.

The Weekend Nail

 

I picked up this Sally Hansen nail polish in ‘Plume 005’ from the Lustre Shine range on sale for under $5 a couple of months ago. I’d never seen the Lustre Shine range before so I was intrigued plus, the two-tone metallic goodness was too good to leave behind even though it was definitely not work appropriate. Well, not in my field anyway. It has been shamefully collecting dust in my nail polish box since I typically don’t paint my nails a colour that can’t carry over to a work day because taking it off and changing the colour after the weekend is such a hassle for my lazy weekend self. Well… that was until last weekend when I finally whipped it out and slapped this ‘paint’ on my nails.

I don’t know why it took so long really. I couldn’t stop staring at my nails and tilting my hands in all different directions to see the different colours. The dominant colours in this nail polish are a metallic green and an orangey-gold, but you can definitely see hints of blue as well.

The brush is a standard brush that is slightly on the thinner side. The nail polish applies well and lasts a good few days before chipping. I apply 2 coats to get an opaque finish and top it off with my Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat.

Polish of the Week: Revlon Colorstay Spanish Moss

Polish of the week is this nail polish from the Revlon Colorstay range in 190 Spanish Moss. Despite my extensive Revlon nail polish collection, this is the only one that is from the Colorstay range that I own. I do like a good Revlon nail polish. The price point is reasonable (plus, Priceline usually have specials on Revlon nail polish) and is half the price of OPI and Essie brands here in Australia which are around $20 for 1 bottle. Ridiculous right?! We always pay so much more for beauty items here! 

Onto the nail polish...it is appropriately named since I would describe this as a khaki moss colour. The colour is muted and therefore I can wear this for work. It is also a colour that matches very easily with your outfits which is a bonus. It lasts fairly well on my nails as it lasted 3 days without chipping, which is definitely good for me! In fact, the photo above was taken 3 days after application. Considering my OPI nail polish chips after a day this is definitely longer lasting on my nails.

Polish of the Week: O.P.I - Can You Tapas This?

I purchased this O.P.I's nail polish in 'Can You Tapas This?' on a recent shopping trip which I posted about here, and I also instagrammed a photo of it on my nails. Sidenote: if you're not following me on instagram, please do! @yourdailybreak. Anyway, this nail polish is a red-chocolate brown shade which is perfect for these cold winter days. In fact, since I've bought this nail polish it's the only shade that I have been wearing on my nails. Considering I have a sizeable collection, this is definitely saying something! I don't find that this nail polish (or any O.P.I nail polish for that matter) wears well on my nails as it chips after about 2 days for me but the colour is just so damn appealing that I continue to use it! It has definitely become my "go-to" winter shade. 

I can't help adding nail polish collection, they're just so easy to buy and perfect when you don't feel like spending a lot of money but still want to bring something home with you from a shopping trip! Does anyone else feel this way? Or is it just me trying to rationalise how many I have?
